What does the number that is printed into a bottle of Johnnie Walker gold label mean?

My friend 'accidently' drank his sons bottle of johnnie walker gold label and then found out how much they cost and that his son was saving it for a special occassion. We have been looking around to replace this bottle but are concerned that this bottle has an 02 imprinted into the glass at the bottom of the bottle. The son specifically wants an 02 bottle, is this a batch number or year number or something else? So far I have found 12s and 08s but no 02s! All help appreciated!|||If it's imprinted into the bottle, it's just a batch numba of the bottle, or when it was made. If it's a gold label bottle of J.W., it'll be a certain year batch, or in lay-mans terms how many years its been brewed.|||try this site:

Just because you find another 02 (which will be next to impossible since that's long out of the market) does not mean you will get the same whisky. ALL JWs are blends including the Pure Malt (just a blend of malts no grain whisky). Its the Master Blender's job to maintain a house style for each bottling but they do vary batch to batch. The youngest whisky in Gold is 18yrs but older whisky may be added. Whatever the Blender thinks is needed to make it correct goes in. I wouldn't get too caught up in finding 02 glass in hopes it will be exactly the same. You'd have to know the casks from which it was drawn and blended and you'll only get that from the distillery. Longshot is an understatement.
