What's the different between johnnie walker black and red label?

which one is best?|||Red label is their "economy" Scotch. Black Label is a higher quality, blended of older aged whiskies, and therefore costs more.

Blue Label is their top-of-the-line blend and depending on where you look can cost from $165-195 (US) for a 750ml bottle.

Incidentally, JW is a blend. Single malt is just that...a whisky that's made at a SINGLE distillery, exclusively of malted barley. Single malts are not blended or they cannot be called "single malt." Blends are popular due to the ability to mix malts and grains to achieve consistent and predictable results year after year. Every year, single malts have slight variances, similar to different years for wine.|||Age and price....in this case, older is better.|||Black is more costly and is blended from whiskey that is aged longer (12 years).

There is also a Blue Label, but I'm sure it's out of my price range. It also is made from a blend.

Walker's idea of blending is to make ensure a consistency, year after year, that is difficult with single malts.|||The amount of time the whiskey has been aged in a barrel. Black label is best, way way better than red. So for Johnnie Walker's colors and age it goes like this from younger to older. Red, Black, Gold, and Blue. With age they become more expensive and blue is expensive and I would only drink it on the rocks. For my taste... I dont buy red, i buy black label regularly, gold when I want special and Blue when I get a raise. Red is not better than black|||red taste kinda soapy.

black is descent.

blue is good

green as well.|||The number of years it's aged. Liquor is judged usually on the the 3 P's: price, packaging, and process. The black is better, aged 12 years, if you want the best (as far as Johnny Walker) Blue Label is the best.|||Johnny Walker is one of the popular brands of blended Scotch whiskies. By law and tradition, blended whiskies are aged in oak casks for 3 years. In this case, Red Label is the youngest and cheapest of Johnny Walker. Black Label comes next in line and is aged for 12 years. This gives it a smoother taste, and therefore a higher price. This company also has Green Label and Blue Label, which are aged longer and are more expensive. I have not tasted the latter two but I am sure they are of better quality. As for JW Black Label 12 yrs old, I drink it occasionally and prefer it to Red Label. It does not "burn" your throat like the Red, it is mellow and smooth on the palate. 12 year or longer aged blended Scotch whiskies have this smooth taste just like most single malts. If you are not going to drink a good single malt, then I suggest you drink a 12 year old blended Scotch. And JW Black Label is a good one.|||black is very expensive my fav is johnny walker blue $$$$21.50 a shot|||black is more expensive|||red label is better|||Black is more expensive but is much nicer! Red is good but much prefer the black label anytime!
